Print a Thought. Watch It Appear.

Imagine carrying a tiny photocopier in your pocket.

Zerox, created by Roddy McGhie, turns blank cards into living prints—where light flashes, ink appears, and thoughts become solid objects in real time.

This isn’t a quick blink-and-miss-it change. The magic happens visibly.

Here’s what happens:

You introduce a small stack of double-blank cards and explain that they contain a special printing technology. From a regular deck, one card is freely selected. Another card is merely thought of.

You touch a blank card to the selected card.

A line of light streaks across the surface.

Turn it over—and the face of the selected card has been printed onto the blank.

The light flashes again, now seemingly coming from the card itself, and the back prints as well.

The freshly printed card is placed face down into a spectator’s hand. They’re only thinking of a card. Nothing is said out loud.

A final flash of light.

They turn the card over.

The thought-of card has been printed onto it.

Zerox is Roddy McGhie’s modern evolution of the classic Presto Printo plot, elevated with a glowing visual everyone instinctively associates with photocopying. The light isn’t decoration—it’s part of the magic. It’s the moment people remember.

Specially crafted gimmicks make both the illumination and the printing possible, while the handling stays simple and practical. The sleights are minimal, the setup is straightforward, and the reactions are anything but.

This is visual magic that feels playful, clever, and impossible—like watching an idea become physical.

A printer with no cord.
A reveal with no delay.
A thought made real.
